Jayne's Story
Attended Butler University 1964-66 majoring in theater and minoring in dance and voice.
Graduated from Univ. of Wisconsin in 1972 w/ a major in Theater; stayed in Madison, Wisconsin until 1976. Studied dance, acting & singing and had roles in a number of musicals in community theater there, as well as doing a lot of costume design. Worked as a go-go dancer in my early twenties.
Moved to los Angeles in '76. Gave birth in '79 to my only child, a son. Worked in the publishing field and in the legal field as a legal secretary & office manager for many years. In 1989 I graduated Suma Cum Laude from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM--Los Angeles) with a Professional Certificate in Fashion Design.

ie "The Secret" and I joined the choir as a First Soprano in '94.
BELLY DANCE is the true love and focus of my life. In 2000 I began studying belly dance (middle eastern dance/Raks Sharki) and started performing professionally in 2002, which I still do. (The picture above with the tiara is a Polaroid shot from a promo photo shoot in 2005.) I also have taught belly dance since 2004 at community colleges, fitness centers & adult education and make costumes for myself and other dancers. In April 2008, after 32 years in Los Angeles, I officially retired & moved to Atlanta (actually, Conyers, GA) along with my son, daughter-in-law and baby grandson (born 2007). I still study, perform and teach belly dance here in Atlanta, as well as helping raise my grandson & designing costumes.
Now that I look at it, it doesn't really seem like much for a whole lifetime, does it?
