Jean's Story
Dear Classmates and Friends of Jean Aspden / Aspen (Eastman):
I was going through my wife's (Jean Aspen's) emails and came upon emails for The Campbell High School Class of 61 Reunion and follow-up get togethers. I realized that many of you are unaware that Jean passed on June 4, 2014 as a result of a brain tumor (Glioma) which was diagnosed in February 2012 (about 5 months following the reunion).
At the time of diagnosis, the Drs only gave us 4 months, but with the support of a great team of medical professionals, Jean fought the Glioma. And we had a precious and cherished 28 months during which Jean and I took the Canadian Via Rail (June 2013) to the Canadian Rockies & Pacific NW; Whale Watched on Monterey Bay (October 2013); and in May 2014 visited our grandchildren in Colorado Springs.
I also want to thank the Campbell HS Class of '61 Alumni and the 61 Reunion Committee for a cherished time on October 1, 2011 - Jean had a great time at the reunion! (and so did I, connecting with her earlier life).
Pictures of Jean at the 61 Reunion can be viewed at the Campbell HS Class of 61 site campbell61.org where you can read Jean's note to her classmates in anticipation of the Oct 1, 2011 Reunion
Jean's obituary can be accessed at Legacy.Com (search Jean Aspen, Morristown NJ, June 4 2014) note: "classmates" does not allow inclusion of website addresses
The added 28 months that Jean and I were able to have together was truly a gift and filled with quality and love. Despite multiple treatments (Chemo, Traditional Radiation, Cyber Knife and Avastin Drug Infusion), Jean suffered very little.
After a 2 week visit with family in Colorado, we returned to New Jersey on Memorial Day weekend 2014; had been out to dinner on the following Wednesday; suddenly went to hospital on Saturday evenin...Expand for more
g, and Jean passed on Wednesday, June 4th, 2014 - having received very special care from the Overlook Hospital Hospice team.
I am very grateful that I was able to be with Jean the whole time that she was hospitalized.
We (the family) appreciate the kind words and condolences received from so many of Jean's friends, classmates and associates.
Thank You,
Richard Eastman
