Jean's Story

My story since JCHS: Went to Illinois for college--tough times but eventually graduated in 1982 with B.A. in Psychology. Worked administrative assistant type jobs. Married in 1983. Moved to Florida. Went back to school for a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. Worked in a hospital setting for many years. Had two sons, who are now 17 and 21. I love being a parent and it's the hardest thing I've ever done. My oldest son joined a crew team and enticed me to join the masters team. I did that for several years, which was a hoot, if you remember me from P.E. classes!! My father died in 1989 at the age of 55. I got divorced in 1997, was a single parent for 10 years. Wasn't too thrilled about the dating scene. Hit my 40...Expand for more
's and gained weight, started wearing glasses :). My mother died in 2001, at the age of 67. Being a mid-life orphan has its ups and downs. Remarried in 2007. Have had my own counseling practice for awhile, but want to change careers.... not sure what I want to do when I grow up. I'm working on my dissertation right now, although it gives me no clues to my career future. Still love to visit my family's farm in Iowa. Visit Dallas, TX regularly, where my sister and her family now live. Have also developed a fondness for taking cruises. I usually visit my husband's family in eastern PA once or twice/year, but I haven't been back to NJ since my mother died. I wonder about my old friends from JCHS. I'd love to hear from you!!
