Jean's Story

Can't practice law anymore due to fibromyalgia. My husband Jere (pronounced Jerry) is an engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Our daughter Blaine is now at Columbia University majoring in Neuroscience. While I try to stay on top of indie music (exs: Matmos, Fiery Furnaces, Dan Deacon), her departure for college could result in my becoming hopelessly out of touch with today's youth if I let it! Update to music. I am now pretty out of touch - I'll grab her iPod at Christmas. I did find Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros on my own and she likes them. Curiously 60's. We live in San Francisco, just south of Golden Gate Park. We own our home and we'll probably stay here forever since Jere is a native Californian and doesn't like New England. There's an outside chance of a developmental assignment to Germany or the East Coast - I would enjoy a new location. Since Mother died in 1996, I have no family left in North Easton. So when I visit the Boston area I do not "come home". I would be happy to hear from fellow OA alums. Jean Update below: If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the and add on...Expand for more
a third story. My dream home would be in New England or Mallorca.. Biggest surprise - not being able to work for health reasons. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Billy Rose, because I haven't seen him since high school. Places I have lived: Boston (too parochial but I did like it for years), Germany and Mallorca (with my then boyfriend, a teaching tennis pro), NYC - Greenwich Village (left due to job transfer), SoCal - Newport Beach and Irvine YUCK (awful smog, terrible traffic jams, plastic people), Sitka AK (awe-inspiring), Clearwater FL, Presidio of San Francisco (while still military base) and San Francisco. Heroes: Johm Adams, Winston Churchill. Teacher I'd love to see sgain: Ruth Ashley - she was at my mother's funeral, but I didn't stay for the reception, and I would have loved to talk to her and her husband, Louis. Also, if I could raise WK Smith from the dead! Childhood memory that may mean something to some of you who knew him -in third grade, Chris McKenna, grabbed me in the hallway at North Easton Grammar and planted a big wet kiss on my lips! Way before his time.
