Jean's Story
Life
FPHS seems so long ago and so much has happened through the years. I lived in Lafayette, Louisiana doing in-house advertising and met my future husband there. We married in 1984, moved to Houston and had a daughter, Caroline, in 1986. Unfortunately, as so many marriages do these days, mine fell apart and I moved back to Beaumont with Caroline to start over. I launched a career in public relations and worked for Baptist Hospital, St. Elizabeth and Beaumont Neurological. In about 1994 I moved back to Houston and went to work for a global PR firm (Hill and Knowlton). I worked for about 10 years on the agency side before taking a job as head of corporate communications for Clear Channel Entertainment. When the parent spun off the company, everyone was let go. Really a tough experience and I spent the next year consulting and pursuing a job in California. My daughter was graduating from high school so I felt like the time was right to make a move. ...Expand for more
I moved to LA in September 2005 to take a position with another global PR firm, GolinHarris, as SVP of the Corporate Practice for the West Coast. It's a great job and I have totally loved living LA, but I have a great opportunity that is taking me to the San Francisco Bay Area. I'll still be with GolinHarris but running one of our largest accounts, as well as opening a Corporate Practice in our SF office. My daughter is graduating from the University of Alabama with a degree in Fashion Design in December. My parents still live in Beaumont, as does my sister and her 4 kids. My brother is in Houston with his wife and 3 kids. My parents still live on Evangeline Lane near Forest Park and I had a deja vu moment over Christmas when I took my niece to learn how to drive at FPHS, where my mom taught me to drive! As different as the school looks now, it still brings back a lot of happy memories. Looking forward to our 30th reunion (ack! that sounds so old!)
