Jean's Story
After graduation, I earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Florida. GO GATORS!
I took a position with the DoD at Robins AFB, GA. I worked at Robins from 1983 - 1993. Currently, I'm working at Peterson AFB, CO. My major project is Test & Evaluation of space environmental effects and their impact on military assets: radars, satellites, and SatComm ground stations. I now have 26 years in AF Civil Service. I'm looking forward to retirement in the next 5 years or so.
Alan Corbin and I dated in high school. After graduation, he entered the Marine Corp. boot camp, then was accelerated through the Marine school of music. Alan became a member of the President's Drum & Bugle Corp., playing for President Carter and the Queen of England, and playing the colors for hoisting and taking down the flag at dawn and dusk on Capitol Hill. After the Marines, he owned and operated 2 Pizza Inns in Gainesville.
Alan and I lost touch for 25 years. In Dec 2000, Alan got my email from Classmates.com and we started emailing and phoning each other. Alan moved to Colorado Springs in May 2001. We were married on Valentine's Day 2002!
We live on 10 acres in Falcon, CO. Alan has a disc sports business: DiscZilla.com. He has a 9-hole disc golf course on the property. We have 4 horses and 4 dogs. The land has a lot of trees (for CO), a large warehouse with a saloon, and a pond big enough to canoe in. ...Expand for more
I grew a pink water lily and we have goldfish in it. We have a group of deer that roam through, tons of rabbits, birds, a pair of nesting owls, and at one time we discovered a litter of 3 baby coyotes. Also have had a few skunks, raccoons, and we see many birds of prey.
I am still a horsewoman and bred and raised 5 babies from my broodmare and a German Friesian stallion. I still have 2 of the "kids", the mare, and a Standardbred harness horse with a cart and harness. He was adopted from a rescue org. in WI. Alan can ride him and throw frisbies from horseback! I have a 6 stall barn with a tackroom and half bath. Our house is a remodeled older farm house and Alan and I enjoy homesteading.
Alan and I also bought 80 acres of grassy prairie land with a few ponds, but no trees except for ones we planted. It's 35 miles East of where we live. On the high point, we have a nice view of the Rockies. It's set up for our RV and we've camped, swam, canoed, fished, skied and snowshoed out there. It's in the boonies, so very dark at night for the telescope, very private, quiet, and a good place to rock hound.
We both love living in CO and we have a great view of Pikes Peak and the entire front range of the Rockies. We have been learning to ski and snowshoe, and there's a lot of cool stuff to do out here in the West!
