Jean's Story

After graduation I attended DeKalb Technical College. After graduation I worked with Eton Corporation, Forestry Equipment Div. for 8 years. I left there and worked for USF&G Ins. Co. During all of this working time, I met Jimmy Hazlerigs, who also graduated from Gordon. We married October 22,1977. I continued to work until we had our daughter, Jena Marie, five years later. Living my dream of being a wife and mother, is my most treasured accomplishment. I treasure my memories of the good times, with my high school friends. As we have all scattered across the USA, I look forward to a time when we can all sit down and have lunch, and laugh about old times. Or, just catch up!! And Yes Ya'll, I still have my 65 Mustang I think all daughters feel that their father is their "hero". He lived thru the depression, went to war, along with my mother raised 3 kids, and fostered who ever needed help. My parents are in their mid to late 80's. With very limited education, and a strong will, started 2 business, that are still very successful. I have been blessed to have such wonderful parents. Who have tought me importance of family, and to put my faith in Jesus Christ. I love to watch the Georgia Bull Dawgs play. I am not into sports, or other college football. Maybe the reason I like them is because our daughter Jena graduated from U.G.A. When I was in high school, I lived for the Friday night dances at Gordon. Although we had several very good live bands, there was no one better than Ronnie Glosiers band!! Had it not been for Uncle Sam he would have had a wonderful career. My daughter inherited my dancing gene, and after graduation, taught ballroom dancing with Fred Astaire. I guess because of her I love to watch "Dancing With the Stars". I love to watch Idol as well. I admire anyone who can show off their talent in front of million. I would say my biggest surprise about my life is. I have always dreamed of having a large family, but God only had one planned for me. With time you find out that he knew what was best for me!! He just gave all that I had asked for, wrapped up in one package. Another surprise is that after being married to Jimmy, 31 years, our date nights, are just like our "first date". He still opens doors for me. Seats me at a table. And a day does not go by that he does not tell me I am beautiful, and how much I am loved. When you have children, I have learned that you put your life on hold. There is no room for selfishness. You have been given the most wonderful gift, and it is up to you to mold and insteal how this little person is going to turn out. There is alot to be said about the song "Turn Around". Or Kenny Chesney's song "Blink" But all in all when it is time for them to leave the nest, you get to see your finished product. :) and PRAY If I won $100 million, I'd give 15% of it to God, then spend the rest on paying of c.c., buy land and build a house and Jena. My current age is 59. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be older than dirt. I was so completely wrong. I am doing exactly what I want to do now. Jimmy is self employed and owns Professional Lock and Safe Co. When Jena was born, I quit my job with USF&G. Jimmy opened this company, and I worked from home. Matter of fact, I think I was the one who "invented" working from home. Jimmy would forward the phones to me, a...Expand for more
nd we worked from the business radios. Thank God for cell phones. When Jena started school, I relocated to the shop until it was time to join the carpool line. I now go into the office about once or twice a month to only do what is necessary. My best friend would tell you I'm sweet, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as needy. Do I still dress like I did 20 years ago?? make that 40 years ago. NO! Well kind of. I still like to stay in style. I try to always look my best when going out. You can expect to run into someone you have not seen in years, the first time you headed to Wal Mart in your yard clothes. Yep--- I been caught! I share my home with 2 white cats and 1 german/lab dog that Jimmy taught to say I Love You, which I find fun. In 10 years, I hope to be living in my dream house on a farm. I'm going to get there by winning the lottery . I have several friends that I have kept intouch with, thru the years. Of course every now and then you will run into someone that brings back alot of memories. When you run into these friends, you are always glad to see them, and do the normal catch up --until you see them again. There are 3 that I e-mail back and forth, and because of the distance makes it hard to just sit down and have lunch or dinner with. Gwen Hendricks, Bonnie White, and Brenda Whitfield, go all the way back to 3rd grade. We may not see or talk to each other for a while, but when we do, it's just like old times. With Gwen, if my car was moving, more than likely she was in it with me. We have shared more secrets, double dates, laughter, and yes tears. So how can you not love someone like that! Bonnie and I have always kept intouch thru our e-mails. At Terry Mill, it was Bonnie, Brenda and me. Brenda lives the closest to me. We visit back and forth. She and I will catch a movie together. Should I need something she will drop what she is doing and be right there. :) Since I have attend all of the class reunions, I don't think there is any one thing that will surprise or shock anyone who attends. Although I did have one old flame who has not attended a class reunion in years, say to me, that when he first saw me, he thought for a minute he was looking at my mother. Now for those of you, who have had the pleasure of meeting or knowing my mother, this is one of the nicest complements anyone could have honored me with. My first job was at Woolworths, at Park Place Mall, where I got paid pennies to sack merchindise. What I remember most about it is my whole family AND neighbors, would get in my line, so I would have to bag their stuff.. Sometimes they would come back 2 and 3 times in one day. I really think they did this just to watch me work!! My dad would leave grinning! I would have to say that there are too many wonderful memories, that stood out more than another. It could be the first time someone you cared about telling you that he loved you. It could be the new piano, you wanted so desperately, and was told no, not this year, just to see the tears of joy streaming down your face on Christmas Eve when it's carried into the living room, and my Cousin Doug laughing his head off. It could be the horse I was given, and the wonderful memories and friendships, that were made at the pasture. Fun times --fun times :) I have been truly Blessed!
