Jean's Story

Life A few months after graduation I left for the Navy. Many people thought I was crazy, hell, I thought I was crazy. Turned out to be an unbelieveable experience for me. Although part of the reason I joined the Navy was to see the world, I spent my first 4 years in sunny Florida. Not a bad place to be in the month of January though. My first duty station was Homestead, FL. (Where they had that terrible hurricane a few years back - was long gone by then). Had a blast meeting people from all over the country. Met my amazing husband Tony here. We were both members of the honor guard. I folded flags and he played taps at many veterans'funerals, and believe me, in Florida there were plenty of those. Left Florida in 85' and when Tony realized he couldn't live without me, we planned our wedding while I was in England, my second duty station, where I worked as a mail courier of the "secret" kind and traveled all over Great Britian. Got married in NJ in Nov 85' and a year later got dut...Expand for more
y with my husband in Edzell, Scotland. Enjoyed the beautiful countryside and met some of the warmest people in the world, the Scots. Also, did some traveling in Europe. Lived here over 4 years and had my first son Anthony here in May 89'. Got out of the Navy and become a full time Mom, lived in PA and had my second son, Matt, July 91'. Moved to South Jersey in Oct 91', near Philadelphia. In Feb 97', decided to really go over the edge and had my third son, Parker! Yes, Parker. Named him Parker for my Mom. She said it sounded like a movie stars name. I say it is the name of a tyrant! Presently, we are still living in South Jersey. Yeah, it gets nuts and some days are mundane and extremely long, but I wouldn't trade it (most of the time)for the world. Some day I would like to contribute monetarily and hopefully regain some of my brain cells lost along the way from raising a house full of "males", but I have no regrets. Life is good and I feel blessed. Hope to see you all at the reunion.
