Jean's Story
After leaving high school, I went to Clark's Business School. In '67 I went to work at Shawnee Federal Savings until I got married. I married Earnest (Buzz) Sherrets. He was in the Navy so I moved to California where I began working for Pacific Telephone. He was transferred to Norfolk, Va and I was able to transfer there. On Sept 9, '74 our son was born. ll here in Topeka. Shortly after returning to Topeka, Buzz & I divorced. I was a single Mom for 10 yrs when I married Frank Gonzalez in May '85. We are still married. I retired from SWBT, SBC, finally ATT in March of 11. Since that time, I spend lots of time volunteering mainly with Meals on Wheels. I am also on the Board of the LULAC Senior Center and an active member & Treasurer of the AMIGOS of the Marlo Cuevas Balandran Activity Center..
