Jean's Story
Life
Since graduating from H.S., I was married for 26 years and have a son and a daughter.
They each have given me two beautiful granddaughters: Ashley, Samantha, Brianna and Kimberly. Ashley followed in my footsteps and graduated from Kent State University with her BSN in Nursing.
(On 5/4/70 did any of us ever think we would have a child or grandchild attend Kent State).
I pursued the career in Nursing that I had always wanted and settled into the field of Occupational Health & Safety and Case Management. I am a Registered Nurse, Board Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) and a Board Certified Case Manager (CCM).
In 2004, I decided to "retire" from Nursing and sold my house in Chicago and moved to Ohio to be near my daughter. Retirement lasted about 2 years! I went to work for University Hospitals in Cleveland doing Worker's Comp and Short Term Disability case management for the entire University Hospitals system for 13 yrs.
I am now officially retired since 2019.

r, I learned to slow down and enjoy life. I still love to dance (oh, the many nights spent out at Bricky's). And, to my surprise, I've taken up motorcycle riding and love it -something I've always been afraid to do since since losing two very good friends in H.S.
Since 2003, I've been going out to South Dakota the first week-end in June to do the annual Volksmarch up Crazy Horse Mountain. It is the only time the Indians allow foot traffic on the mountain. It's a fun and challenging trek (about 6 miles to the top).
I last did the hike in June 2016 and then the end of July I went back out there and finally did the motorcycle trip I had been hoping to do for many years, exploring the beautiful scenery and winding roads of South Dakota, so I can cross that off my bucket list. Finally got to experience the thrill of riding Iron Mountain Road on a motorcycle. Soooo much fun!!!!!!
Plan to do the hike at least one more time in 2022. The kids and grandkids will go with me.
In January ‘22 I will become a Great Grandmother!!!!!
