Jean's Story
I was that very shy girl sitting in the second row who attended Davidson for only her junior and senior year. All the while I was going "steady" with my high school sweetheart. After graduation, we married and later went on to have 3 kids (2 girls and 1 son). We eventually bought out my Dad's business, Dixie Supply Co., which we both worked in for the next 30 years. My "sweetheart" and I happily divorced in 1999 after 33 years of marriage. Our children became successful components of the business world, now owning 8 stores around the southern states. I am very happy with my life now as a single woman. I have 3 wonderful children who dote on me worse than I doted on them. I also am the proud grandmother of 9. They are my life and I enjoy having all of them in my life.
I did not make friends ver...Expand for more
y easily because I was so so shy. But, I have come out of my shell, finally, and have made tons of new friends. I don't remember too many people and I doubt many people remember me. I do, though, have a few friends that I'd like to hear from.... Brenda Talbert, Mary McAllister, Karen Brabner, Lorraine Arwood, Betty Richardson, Vilda Brunson.....etc., and also a few "guys", if they are single again! lol I've been "lost" from the Davidson crowd for a long time. I only went to Davidson for the 11th and 12th grade, having come from Shaw where all my friends were, and going "steady" made me a "stay away from girl"..... But, now that I know better, I wish I had been more active, more responsive, and more friendly. Anyway, it was good to get online and look back and review and renew old acquaintances.
