Jeanne's Story

Life Some might remember that I married just before graduation. It really surprised Barto Hughes when I actually attended enough classes between March and May to graduate. First hubby and I were married 22 years before divorcing. We had two beautiful daughters, Tracy born in '70 and Amy born in '76. Years later after attending college, I took a position in the Department of Research at the Baptist Health System where I met Ed, a former Penn State professor (and big PSU football fan!). We were married in '91. In '95, we spent three years in Billings, Montana having a blast fly fishing, hiking, canoeing, and making great friends. We returned to Birmingham in '98 where we returned to positions in research at BHS. We live in Trace Crossings in Hoover. UAB. Kaeden, her 4 year old son, is the only grandchild that lives here in Birmingham. Amy is 29, has her Masters in elementary eduation, and teaches second grade in LaGrange KY. Her son Barrett is 15 months and is having so much fun discovering his world. I am also step-mom for Ed's 5 children that live in Maryland and Virginia. Altogether we have 6 grandchildren between the ages of newborn to 3-1/2 years. As you can guess we have lots of frequent flier miles. In June, Ed and I will be celebrating our retirement (next year) and our 15th wedding anniversary (Nov '06) by taking a European River Cruise between Vienna and Amsterdam and spending a few days in Bruges and Brussels.
