I married George Goldsmith, Jr, in 1970. We moved to Albany in late 1974, after my graduation from nursing school. I began working as a nurse at Albany Medical Center Hospital in January of 1975. This was the beginning of 28 exciting and instructive career years, mostly spent in various disciplines at Albany Med. I retired at my neurosurgeon's insistence in late 2002, after my fourth spinal surgery. George was a career NYS employee, starting in 1970 at the Dept of Transportation and retiring in 2006 from the Department of Parks and Recreation. He was also a tireless activist for the NYS Public Employees Federation, a union of technical and engineering employees, as well as a community charity activist.
George and I had 2 daughters and 2 sons, beginning in 1970 and ending in 1980. Two of these children have given us our four wonderful grandsons, who are between the ages of 8 and 20. The other two remain unmarried. Our youngest son, Justin, suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, a debilitating and fatal genetic disorder. He is currently 34 years old and will be facing a double lung transplant sometime in the future.

April 2010, shortly after our 40th wedding anniversary. He suffered from heart and lung disease, and it just became too much for his body to tolerate. We all miss him dearly, especially at this time of year - he passed just three days before his birthday, and was buried on his 62nd birthday at Albany Rural Cemetery.
Our older son, Geoffrey, was living with us with his family at the time of his father's death. About a year and a half after George passed, I bought a house, as the apartment to which George and I had moved after retirement was just too small for a growing family. It's to my advantage to have "housemates," as medical and neuro-orthopedic difficulties have made it hard for me to do certain things (driving, shopping, etc). I hope never to have to move again!
Geoffrey's two boys are Greg, 14, who is here on weekends, and Logan, 8, who lives here full time. Daughter Jennifer has Richard, 20,and Cole, 14. Oldest daughter Jackie lives in a community close by and works for the US Postal Service. Justin lives with sister Jenn and family, also close by. He was forced into retirement by declining health - and his doctor - a few years ago.
I will probably not be attending the Sept. 2015 reunion, as Geoff and Logan's Mom are planning their wedding (finally!) for a day a few weeks later. Wedding activities will probably be on the agenda for the reunion date. I'll be thinking of everyone, and hoping that it's a great time for all.
