Hi All,
I had a great time catching up with some old friends at the 20th reunion...I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard, thanks Nikki.
I added some photos...including some of my artwork. I graduated from Mass Art in 1996 and continue to create in my own space. I am mostly a self-indulgent sort of Artist...the images that come out are therapeutic for me and I guess I never intended them to be seen by a mass audience. Who knows...I could eat those words someday.
I want to share something more personal here just in case anyone out there needs some help...Back in the spring of 2000, I reported the sexually inappropriate conduct of a priest to the archdiocese of Boston. Just over a year and a half later the cergy abuse scandal broke wide open...that February of 2002, my own story of clergy sexual abuse as a child went public. My abuse was perpetrated by a priest at St. Francis Xavier on Pleasant St...between the years of 1974-1979. I was 6 when it began and 11 when it stopped. now is suffering in silence, please contact me. Today I am a volunteer for SNAP(Survivors Network for those Abused by Priests). I facillitate a support group that meets once a month in the Boston area. I also take phonecalls from across the country to help Survivors begin their recovery process. I have spent the last 4 years traveling to different Voice of the Faithful chapters throughout Massachusetts, the Cape and Rhode Island as a speaker to educate faith-filled Catholics on the effects of sexual abuse and how they can help support Survivors and work toward positive change in the church. I have appeared at film premiere events, vigils, on the news and on the radio to remind people that there is hope if you are in pain. You don't have to be alone...you are not alone...I understand and so do tens of thousands more. Don't feel like you have to convince yourself or anyone else...I believe you and the hundreds of good people I know, Survivors and Advocates alike believe you and your story, too. Help is here when you're ready.
