Jeanne's Story

I moved to Virginia Beach ( live 6 minutes from the oceanfront) in 2004. I have loved every minute of living here. The people are interesting, there is so much to do. The weather is wonderful- so mild that I can garden most months of the year. I have been singing with a bunch of musicians here and loving it. Mostly doing blues and some jazzy stuff- everything from Bonnie Raitt to Sade, Nora Jones that kind of stuff. Both my girls are in NYC at the moment and I thought that I would be devastated when they were gone but I'm not because my life is so full with my job, which I love, and with a very full social and music life. I love it that I can go to the beach any time I want. I am not married again, yet. I met a lot of good men just not the right one yet. I live really healthy- it is easy to do at the beach. I feel like I'm 28 instead of 58. I even won a dance contest at a private party at a bar a few weeks ago. Then I got up and sang with the band ! I think this is the most fun I have ever had consistently in my whole life. I love my little house and my two silly dogs and my neighbors are great! As you can see, I don't really have anything to complain about. I am blessed with good health and always work on getting to a higher spiritual place. Stay positive and always have something to look forward to - that's my motto. Give more than you take and leave a place brighter and prettier than you found it. All that jazz. I am fairly distressed at the condition that the world finds itself in and the part that America has played in it. I thought our generation would save the world. Maybe we still can if we can if we put our hearts and minds into it. I would love to hear from anybody and everybody if you would like to chat. I love comparing life stories. The paths that peoples lives have taken are so fascinating. So, don't be shy. BTW- Did anybo...Expand for more
dy else go to Woodstock? I did, of course. And hitch-hiked to San Francisco and had an agent and traveled, playing music. Never was real successful but had a great time and survived. I went to George Mason so I was at every anti-war demonstration in DC. Were any of you guys there? I would love to share hippie tales. Update April 2012 I was married again in January two years ago to a wonderful man named John Olson. He is a electrical/computer engineer- works for a defense contractor for the Navy. We met when I sat in with his band and sang with them at a local club in VA Beach. We have a two yr. old grandson who is the light of our days. John is eight and a half years younger than I am so I will be retiring before he will. We are planning to buy some land and build a sustainable design home and live off the grid. Organic gardens and orchards, lots of animals- a big room to do music. John travels some with his job and I get to go with him sometimes to some great places like San Diego, Hilton Head, Orlando, Vegas etc. We are having lots of fun. John is a great guitar player and we do a lot of music together and jam with other people. I am working with some environmental groups down here in VA Beach. We are trying to convince Virginia to require Dominion VA Power to invest in solar and wind power and give up their plans for more coal burning plants and to keep oil companies from drilling off the coast of Virginia. My daughters both live in NYC and are doing really well. My oldest is a VP at JP Morgan Chase and the youngest is a personal trainer and is on the All Star team of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby team. They are both having a great time making it in the biggest, craziest city in the country. I miss them but am happy for them and we try to see each other as often as we can. I hope all of you guys are having fun and doing what you love to do.
