Jeanne's Story
Life
For those of you who knew me in high school you know that the love of my life was Andy Licausi. Well, we did get married and after 25 years of marriage we are still wild about each other. One year after graduation Andy and I tied the knot and started having kids right away. Our beautiful daughter Heidi was born 11 months after we married and then just 23 short months later we had a son, Andrew Jr. to add to our happy little family unit. We bought a house in Arabi and we lived there for 20 years till the dreaded Katrina decided to come and give us a very unwelcome visit. At the present time we are living in Metairie (never thought I'd be living here). We aren't sure what we will do just yet. Still waiting to see what is going to happen. Andy works in Chalmette so it's hard for us to just up and leave. He had to commute so much in his work career. He only got a transfer to Chalmette a few years ago. It was nice having him working so close to home. I'd really hate to see him commuting again. The man deserves a break.
For most of my married life I have been a home maker and mom. I enjoyed being home and raising my children, and volunteering at school. For seven years before the storm hit I was an Avon Representative. With my custom...Expand for more
ers scattered to the four corners of the country right now I have given up my Avon business. Now my mother in law is living with us and she has been having some health problems that need to be taken care of. I have been taking care of her and bringing her to her numerous doctors appointments.
Both of my kids graduated from Andrew Jackson. I have to say when my daughter started going there it was odd to see boys going through the halls of AJ. I think Andy was a little upset that Drew (our nick name for Andrew Jr.) didn't go to Chalmette high like he did. Now all three of of can gang up on him=0). Heidi graduated from AJ,20 years after I did,in 1999. I was so proud and I had a hard time keeping the tears in check when her class sang the Alma mater. Two years later Drew graduated in 2001 and again I had a hard time keeping those tears at bay. I hate to keep referring back to hurricane Katrina but I lost all my year books to that darned storm and I'm angry as can be about that.
I suppose compared to many of my class mates my life sounds a little boring but I have to say that I have been very happy with the way my life has been. I've had the usual ups and downs like every one else and looking back on it all I wouldn't change a thing.
