Jeff's Story

Gee....where do I start? Well, pull up a chair kiddies & get ready for grampa's long story.... After sluffing & partying my high school days away, I landed a job as a metal worker at a trailer manufacturer called METAL CRAFT TRAILERS in Salt Lick City, UT. Always dreaming of becoming a Rock Star, I played in a number of local Metal/Thrash Metal bands in the local S.L.C. music scene, until I hooked up with some fellers to form MEAT WAGON in '98. we've been together ever since. although the dream of being over-powered by scantily clad female groupies & drowning in a pile of my own vomit in a tour bus or roach infested hotel has faded away, I still enjoy playing at local clubs & venues such as: The Abyss, Club Vegas, South Shore, Dog Pound, Burt's Tiki Lounge, 5 Monkeys, etc. I married a beautiful woman named Wendy Snow in the fall of '93. we have been together for over 20 years now. we have one daughter named Carissa -age: 21, a Rottweiller named Timber & a cat named Dakota. we lost our only son (Chase) to SIDS back in '94. After 12 years of grueling punishment in the steel industry, I ended up seeking employment in Electronic/Laser tech (always had a thing for electronics). seeing how I left High School in 11th grade with a whoppin' 5 or so credits to my name, I decided that I had better try to get my GED in 2003, and suprisingly, I passed it right off the bat! With diploma (or equivelent thereof) in hand, I was able to find employment with Harman Music Group as a Sound Test Tech. this was an awesome job. they gave me a nice lil' office with a bunch of guitars, amps & testing supplies. I got to kick back & jam all day long with my fellow techs, while testing digital processors, amps, mixing boards, effects pedals & many other pieces of equipment used in the electric/electronic music industry. after 9-11 however, sales for our products slowed way down, & I was layed off after only 2 years of employment with them. I then...Expand for more
found an opportunity (and mo' $$$) at G.E.'s OEC company making & testing X-ray machinery, better offers started rollin' in so I moved over to Moog aircraft systems making & testing missile guidance sections & components. it didn't take long to realise that the aerospace field has many ups & downs, and once again, manufacturing slowed way down & I was given the ol', "we are so sorry Mr. Butterfield, but we have to let you go..." & a nice pat on the back. I finally ended my working career at a place called Lumenis laser technologies, making & testing Lasers used for operating in the field of optical & skin treatments, until diabetes complications made it clear to me that it was now time to settle down into a much dreaded early retirement. these days, I spend allot of my time writing & playing music, traveling & re-building/re-storing classic Carter/Holley/Rochester carburetors from the 60's & 70's in my workshop. this has actually been GREAT! My family & I really enjoy traveling. together, we have visited Jamaica, Mexico, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Oregon, California, and a ton of other U.S. states. we own a sweet ol' '79 Dodge Motorhome, that we use primarily for cruising all around Utah & visiting Las Wages, NV annually for the MoPars at the Strip event, I am a member of a local car club known as the MoPars of Utah. I've had a ball restoring, showing, racing, driving & cruising in various Chrysler built Muscle cars & vehicles. I own a '71 Dodge Charger Super Bee that definitely takes me back to my high school days. together, the family & I go on various camp outs, cruises, car shows, races, barbeques, gigs, blah, blah freakin' blah.... Aside from losing our son to SIDS & my diabetic complications, life has been pretty good to me. It's impossible to even begin writing down everything that I have witnessed & experienced since the good ol' days of yester-year. besides, I've already put you to sleep! PEACE, LOVE & UNITY!!!
