Jeff's Story
It's been a long time since I was 18. I'm sure I have changed a lot for both better and worse. I can't say I wouldn't like to go back and tell myself the things I've learned since then sometimes in an effort to be helpful, but at the same time, I have faith that I am following the path I am supposed to follow. Even if I may not always be sure of my next stop or whom my traveling companions may be along the way, I am learning to just enjoy the journey. I never thought I would end up where I'm at, but if we always just magically appeared where we planned to appear, we would never meet new people or see different things, and we would miss so much around us because we'd develop tunnel vision.
I'm not perfect - far from it, but I am a good person and I am willing to become better and to be open to taking an honest look at myself. I have recently been reminded that when you are determined ...Expand for more
to try to do right by other people, and to be honest with your emotions rather than letting your conscious "rational" mind struggle against what you feel, there is a feeling of relaxing peace. The other day I realized that none of my plans ever seem to work out the way I thought they would. I realized that one of the biggest mistakes we tend to make as people is confusing what we want for what is best for us. By following what feels right inside rather than what I want to be right, I believe I will more closely follow God's plan for my life. Some people might not understand that, but even sometimes when what feels right is counter-intuitive, I felt more at peace with doing that then I did struggling to figure out what I thought was best. I am going to try to become a better person.
