Jeff's Story
I hung out with everyone: jocks, burnouts, motorheads, nerds/geeks - I like them all.
Things I remember most of HS is wrestling, pick up football games on weekends with the track, soccer and wrestling team members (football players joined after football season).
I didn't start at Fenton and I didn't finish there. I started at Roosevelt HS in Chicago. I got into too much trouble there and moved to Bensenville to live with my father.
I moved to Colorado before finishing HS and got a GED.
I worked all sorts of odd jobs for a while but started a business with my older brother (printing company) in 1986 until 1990. I decided then to go back to school. I did that, working on my degree (journalism and political science) on and off -- finally finishing up in 2007 with a Master's in Public Administration.
I've been a waiter, a reporter, editor, worked for a software company in Tech Support for a while and then as a supervisor and manager there, too.
My second daughter was diagnosed with autism and I became more and more involved in public policy and advocating for those with disabilities.
I...Expand for more
worked for the Autism Society of Colorado for five years as -- well -- doing just about everything from communications and marketing, development and programs management. I left this past summer (2008) as its programs director.
I am now a private disability advocate. Check out my website at SpEd-HELP(dot)com.
People I would like to keep in touch with or see again:
Rich Ahrens - Rich was always a friend to me and one of the most confident (and competent) people I've met to-date.
Sharon Guest - I had such a crush on Sharon and never had the guts to ask her out.
Linda Locker - I had a crush on her, too, but she was older and I met her outside of school.
I'd like to thank Mr. (Kent L.) Grant for his teaching style and really igniting my interest in science. While I haven't gone into science as a vocation, I have always loved the subject and consider it to be one of my favorite subject.
I really appreciated Laura Annunziata (who taught ... I don't recall the name of the class but I remember I had to give speeches) for being one of the major motivations to go to school -- she was HOT!
