Contrary to popular belief, the last refuge of the scoundrel is not patriotism. It's marketing.
College
I attended three colleges, attaining only one degree among them -- not a very good hit rate, I'm afraid. I started at University of Santa Clara with high hopes and a theater scholarship. I left after one year with my tail between my legs, so to speak. Most of the rest of my college career was spent in forbidding weather at the University of Iowa, where I eventually earned an English degree. I also had a cup of coffee at UC Davis.
Workplace

has included a long stretch at Lockheed (now Lockheed Martin), where I eventually became staff assistant to the President of Missile Systems (think Smithers on "The Simpsons.") After two years as a marketing consultant (as close as I'll ever get to con-artistry), I talked my way into a job as marketing communications manager for a leading ophthalmic lens manufacturer. My proudest achievement to date is writing and co-starring in the first musical-detective story-continuing education program for opticians, and likely the last as well. Up in heaven, Mr. Bargetto sighs and shakes his head.
