Jeff's Story
After graduation from high school I attended the University of Michigan for 5 1/2 years. During that period I completed a B.S.E in Engr. Science and an M.S.E. in Public Systems Engineering (essentially a public policy degree for engineers). I spent first two summers in Tulsa and then succeeding summers in Ann Arbor, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
Leaving graduate school I moved to Washington, D.C. I was destined to be there or in a state capital with a public policy degree. My first job was in the pesticide regulatory program at US EPA. I haven't been able to escape the magnetic pull of our nation's capital since.

a government bureaucrat. I left EPA for the consulting business following my mentor into the private sector. After another 2 1/2 years I decided the firm I was working for wasn't doing anything for me I couldn't do for myself, so I started my own consulting business. I had the good (and bad) fortune to be profitable from the first day. I say bad because being profitable from the beginning tends to make one too risk-adverse and leery of investing for a long time in something that could never be profitable or might be extraordinarily so.
Anyway, I made what was a lot of money for my age at the time (not a lot by today's standards) and probably was too comfortable for my own good and further growth.
