Jeff's Story
After graduation, I went to Marquette University for two years until I ran out of money. In order to finish my education I joined the Army and served military intelligence as an interrogator and German linguist. I like to tell me I fought the Battle of Boredom at Ft. Hood TX. During that time I married my high school sweetheart. I have now been married to her for 46 years. We have three grown children and four grandkids. Like me, the two boys ended up wrestling in High School. Both were far better than the old man ever dreamed of being. The youngest ended his High School career 175-20 and placing at the State Wrestling Tournament. Our daughter was a pitcher playing High School softball. Watching the kids in sports was one of the real joys I have ever had. Who knows, maybe one of the grandkids will continue the wrestling tradition!
As for me, I went back to Marquette on the...Expand for more
GI Bill and finished my degree in Human Resources. I spent 28 years in HR (which I really loved) until I was tired of two plant closures, downsizings and corporate politics. I then became a professional speaker and consultant on employee retention. I REALLY LOVE IT. I'm 68 now and have no intention of retiring. My wife, Nancy and I travel when we decide we want to. It's a great balance.
Aside from traveling, my "hobby" is being a competitive Powerlifter. I now compete in 3-4 to tournaments a year. One of my highlights has been competing at the Powerlifting National Championships in 2023. As I write this, I'm one week away from the WI State Championships and I'm 3 lbs over my weight class. I will be using the weight cutting skills I learned wrestling in high school.
In a nutshell...I just summarized 50 years of my life. It's been great and I would do it all over again!!!
