ssed away in 2000--I think I was in love with her all through high school. Nice to find that some high school friendships last a lifetime--have kept in loose touch with Carol Jean Hadley and Rob Strickland. My most inspirational teacher was my 8th grade homeroom teacher at Capitol Hill, Burt Johnson. Every student deserves a teacher like him. One of my best memories is the "freshman assistance system" that several people and I put together for the incoming freshmen in the fall of 1972. Student volunteers wore "?" badges to indicate willingness to help the new kids find their ways around the school. I see Nick Hanches (social studies teacher and High-Q coach) now and then, usually at the annual Greek Festival.
