Jeffrey's Story
Life
I am currently the chair of the Department of English and American Studies at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. I've been living in the Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia since 1992, but first spent a year in the country in 1989 on a Fulbright fellowship. But that's getting ahead of myself.

arin and then transfered to UC Santa Barbara. After graduating in 1986, I went to grad school (doing archaeology) at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. It was while there that I first became interested in Central Europe and Czechoslovakia. So when the opportunity to teach here came up, I took it.
I've never married (no surprise there!) but my partner of almost 13 years does have two children, which is as close as I'll ever get to having any. We also have a basset hound named Ada (see picture).
