Life
After "grad" started to go to Lee College, but decided, no, enlisted in Air Force Aug '60. Car wreck April '64, three miles off Base, broke neck, and jaw at both sides of chin, sever brain concussion. Three months Base hospital, fifteen months Houston VA Hospital. Retired by USAF Nov 2, '65, with 100% service-connected disability, six years at parents home exercising. Started driving in '70 in custom built pickup. Got own apartment in '73, grad San Jainto College '73. Designed and had home built in Deer Park in '76. Remet Darlene Wells, 1980, at 20 year reunion, got married 3 months later (big mistake), divorce in '94. Thinking with wrong head married a 33 year old in '98, annulment in '99. Meet a lovely 39 yr old philippine woman, Maribeth, in Manila on matchamerica.com March 2, 2004, we webcam chated 3 to 5 times a week and TXT everyday. Then made application for her I-129F Fiancee Visa May 12, and application approved September 12, she'll be here November, thanksgiving week. Wishful thinking, consulars office in American Embassy, Manila, wanted a letter from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) they thought I received, that waved 2 year travel requirement. Which DHS did when they approved application, but didn't send me saying so. After spending, wasting, 3 months trying to get letter on own, hired lawyer. So, hopefully, Beth, will be here by April. We plan on getting married and get on with life. Lawyer called American Embassy in Manila several times and could not get clear communication. Released lawyer. Immigration re-applied I-129F application at my request, Maribeth, again, explained situation to Embassy regarding travel letter waved. Finally, April 8, 2005, Maribeth's visa was released by the Embassy, made reservation on Continential and April 29, 2005, Beth arrived at Bush International. We married May 14, 2005. Life is wonderful when you're given an "Angel"
She's busy everyday taking care of me, the animals, dogs, the house and her garden. I'm busy try'n to figure out what to do any given day. For me, now, time just seems to be running into itself. Get on my laptop pc, check finances, pay bills, delete email, roam the internet, get up, shower an shave, exercise, watch tv. Go to bed, watch tv. Beth webcam chats with family in Philippines, friends here in USA she's met on chat, and relatives in N.C. and FL.
Beth an I talk, and plan, an exchange ideas, an laugh an play! Because of the age difference, I stay busy getting "all my 'ducks in a row' " for that inevitable event. being told, and forming my own opinion on world events, At lunch I watch Rockford Files, Gunsmoke, Mavarick, Have Gun-Will Travel, then back to news. Intersperst with movies, science, history, geography, football, boxing, etc.Yet, I can only care about the 9100 sq. ft. of property I own, the house thereon sits, Beth-n-me, an my animals. Thats all I can take care of.
Well, here it is, June, 2009. Situation normal. Spend 4 days a week in bed, 3 days up to pedal electric exercycle or go to bank, groceries, VA Hosptal. Had prostate cancer, prostate removed '06. Cancer free now, but really screwed up life. Everythings a struggle. Beth's here to feed me, more later. 2014, July, cancer in right kidney, removed right kidney. Life gose on.
December 19,2009. Beth's been in the Pilippines since Nov 29, be home Dec 30. Louis and Sandra been here since Nov 21, learned what to do before Beth departed. They'll stay till Jan 2, so Beth can rest after the 22 hour return flight. Then Deedee returns to work Jan 4. She works from 8am till 2pm, monday, wednsday, friday, or more if needed. But plan on hiring full time, live-in caregive-driver-housekeeper cause its more benefical for Beth and me. Many people answer the wantad, but many fail my qualifications.
May 12, 2010. Sarah now works here mon thru sat, 8am till 4pm. OK so far, or till she finishes CNA School. Let her go. Oct 30, 2010 Seeking new caregiver. Many apply, few qualify meeting requierments.
Nov, 2014. Ah, current caregiver,8am-2pm, m-f and over time, Claudia, very good at job. Now use stand lift to transfer from bed to wheelchair or shower chair. Speech a whisper now.
Read a lot. Have Kindle on my Dell XPS laptop. Have many ebooks. Sience, history, politics, information, humor. Currently reading, Infitesimal: How A Dangerous Mathematical Therory Shaped The Modern World.
Military
Went through Basic Training and Basic Medical Specialist School at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tx. Medical Material Specialist School, Gunther Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama. Assigned to 3261st Medical Service Squadron, Wilford Hall Hospital, Lacklnd AFB, San Antonio, Tx. Worked in Medical Supply. Sent to Military Driving School for military driving license. Sent to IMB 026 Keypunch School. Staff Sergeant Land, Airman Meyers, and I set up medical material records for mechaniztion using keypunch cards. Sergeant Land, and Airman Meyers were moved out of office. So I ran an IBM 026 Keypunch and IBM 066 Transceiver/Transmitter alone.
On the down hill side of life spend most of time in bed now.. Go out twice a week, or try too. Schedule poop and shower evry third day. What! 10 or 12 more years. Who knows.
