Jenny (Jenneille)'s Story
I went by Jenny in school. I should have signed in that way. After graduation, I worked a couple of jobs and met my husband, Bob Oreschnick at one of them. We married 9/28/63.
He was in the Navy and went on a 10 1/2 month world cruise after we were married only 3 months. After one year we were stationed in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was my first time away from home. I hated when he had to ship out for two to 4 weeks at a time. I was very lonely and finally got a dog to keep me company. We returned to Mpls. and found an apartment. My husband got a job with the Mn. Highway Dept. We moved to Columbia Heights and had our first son, Scott. When he was going into 2nd grade when we had our second son, Shawn and moved to Spring Lake Park. I began doing daycare so that I could stay home and raise my children. Our third son, Mark was born 4 yrs. later. I was active in church, teaching Sunday School and Bible School, La Leche League, Cub Scouts, Webelos, Spring Lake Park Tower Days (Our Community Celebration). My son, Mark was chosen as Jr. Commodor of Spring Lake Park an went on the become Vice Commodore of the Mpls. Aquatennial. I held every office in PTA and was president of the Jr. High Parents Committee and the Sr. High Parents Committee. I also served on the Spring Lake Park School Board. mmunity. I continued doing day care until retirement. I have 4 grandchildren. My sons made me wait til they were in their late 20's to get married so my oldest grandchild is 22. About 12 years ago we sold our 4 bedroom home in Blaine and moved into a single level twin home in Coon Rapids. In October, 2013 I lost my husband, Bob after 50 years of marriage.
It has really been an adjustment. I've never lived alone in my life. All my Children live in South Mpls. or the southern suburbs. I don't see them as often as I would like. They are so busy with their own activities. I'm still working on starting a new life but due to the fact that I never learned to drive, it is a little more difficult. There are many resources in Coon Rapids for people who can't drive for one reason or another. I just have to start taking advantage of them. I currently volunteer at the Senior Center.
My main activities are my church and hanging out with my remaining sister who is also widow. I attended the 70th Birthday party for the class of "62 and enjoyed seeing some of our old classmates. I have also attended the last couple of activities. I would enjoy renewing old friendships and making new friends. Being a widow after 50 years of marriage gets lonely sometimes.
Thank you for reading my bio and I hope to be in contact with many of you. Sincerely, Jenny
