After graduating from Mentor High I attended Lakeland Community College and Bowling Green State University, I obtained a bachelor of Science in Comprehensice Business Education with Shorthand. (I know. I am a relic. Who takes typing, or shorthand today? What's a typewriter? Carbon paper what's that?) I did my student teaching at Willoughby South and a year of substitue teaching in Mentor. (I could write a book about that.) There just weren't very many openings for my field in Northeast Ohio. Finally obtained a teaching job in the Northern Local School District of Perry County and moved to rural Sumerset, Ohio.about an hour outside of Columbus. Back in 1976 Columbus was not the city it is today. Summerset was like Mayberry RFD. We had a drug store, a post office, a four isle grocery store, laundry mat, antique store, hardware store, several churches, a diner, a gas station and a bar. There were no traffic lights. You could not get mail delivered and there were not enough post office boxes which meant general delivery status which in turn meant you good pick up mail on Saturday only between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. You would go to get gas or pick up your car being repaire and there would be a sign (Gone Hunting back tomorrow at 8 a.m.".
