Jennifer's Story
Life
Greetings from south central Pennsylvania! I've been here for 15 years now... time flies. For most of the year, I'm a high school teacher. Over the summer I get to take life easy, do some traveling, entertain my niece and nephew, putter in the garden and take quilting classes.
School
High school was great, but I would NOT want to relive my teen years again! The most valuable thing I learned in HS was typing (back when we were in the old school on Smith Ave.) since I spent many summers doing temp work. I remember the big, old computers we had back then and never imagined I'd really ever have one at home (but today I'd give up my microwave oven before my Internet connection!). Thank you to Miss Turner for putting up with me (what patience!!). Also, thank you to Mr. Burnham (and others) for teaching me how to write - it has serve...Expand for more
d me well.
College
I earned three degrees and my teaching certification at Mansfield (PA) University. Their online school library program is the best!!
I also had the opportunity to study fashion merchandising in NYC, which was a great experience.
Workplace
Talk about not knowing what you want to do with your life! When I graduated from HS the only thing I knew for sure was that I did NOT want to be a teacher... funny how you end up where you never expected to be! However, it was an interesting journey through retailing, banking, and insurance before I ended up where I am. I've been teaching since 1990 and like the fact that every day is different, and I really have a lot of freedom in what I do and how I do it. Right now I'm hoping to make the move from the classroom to the library - it's just teaching in a different setting.
