Jennifer's Story
Life
Hello Classmates!
It's hard to summarize over 30 years (damn, we're old!) of life in a few words, but will do my best. In high school, if you remember me, I started out doing well and taking classes like Latin and Chemistry and was a Peer Counselor. Then, started hanging out in the smoking area and partying. I did that very well also! Some of you may remember the back of 7-11 and Skate City back in those days or the regular keg parties that occurred--or maybe not, depending on how dazed and confused you were! Did we really wear that much makeup back then???
After graduating Doherty, I continued to attend Pikes Peak Community College(PPCC) for a total of two years. I was accepted into a High School Ambassador program and got to travel to Ireland, England, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and East Germany (when still 'behind the wall').
I left college for a fulltime job at a local electronics company and worked as a Line Lead for Sun Microsystems' computer cables assembly line. I moved to Las Vegas, NV and worked as a store and area retail manager, then fractured my spine while working at a store in Phoenix, AZ. I left that career for a position at a research firm, modifying ion implantation machines for the semiconductor industry. That job allowed me to travel often to places like San...Expand for more
Jose, Portland(Maine), Phoenix metro, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
I then had spinal fusion surgery and decided to return to college. I attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), graduating magna cum laude from bachelors of arts programs in psychology and sociology. Later, I finished my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Nevada State College and worked as a Registered Nurse in Las Vegas, Reno and ran rural shot clinics in Northern NV. I transferred ICU level patients from rural areas to the hospitals I worked for in Reno. I also worked for a few years as a house supervisor in a children's psychiatric hospital. My last career was in epidemiology, as an Infection Control Nurse at an acute care hospital in Las Vegas.
I am retired now, swim a lot and travel a bit. Volunteering in my community is something I find rewarding and I have friends from all walks of life. Living in Las Vegas and having 24hr access to fun works for me because I'm not married and don't have children, so I play weird hours.
Have not had a chance to go to a reunion, so was just curious what happened to some of my high school pals. Email me if you want to share memories, apologize for making fun of me in high school (don't worry I got over it,but you can still say sorry! LOL ), or catch up on what you've been doing lately.
