Jennifer's Story

Life I am married to a retired Marine. He finished his career as of October 1, 2004. He is now working for the local Anheuser Busch distributor here in the South Carolina Lowcountry. We bought a home in fast growing Bluffton, SC in June 2004. We are a short drive from Hilton Head or Savannah.I have been a practicing paralegal for five years. I worked for an attorney in Beaufort full time for five years, practicing Family Law, Civil Litigation and a small amount of Personal Injury. In June 2007, he was selected to be an Equity Court judge. It was a wonderful opportunity for him. I am now working for an equally amazing attorney in Bluffton. She is licensed in five states. She is the textbook definition of "No Fear." She is one of those people who makes you know and believe you can do more than you ever dreamed possible. I think I finally found my calling. We have a cat, a beautiful Calico named Betsy. We adopted her at Christmastime in 2004 from Palmetto Animal League. She had some initial adjustment issues, but now she rules the roost. I always wanted to be a success when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea idea. As it turns out, they were partially right. ild in school. My heroes are all around me. My husband for serving our country, my parents for raising me and my friends for making me who I am today. My biggest surprise as to life not turning out as I expected it... well marrying a military man and finding my sense of self and independence. I have developed a much stronger sense of self since leaving my hometown. I still return and feel like I am still who I was in high school. But I know I am not that person anymore. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my porch and add on a screened in enclosure. My dream home would be a home in old downtown Charleston SC. My current age is 38. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be established in great careers making millions. I was so completely misguided and naive. I would like to take the NALA exam within the next five years and become a certified paralegal. I would like to be more active in the firm I work with and have a greater role. If I had one do over, it would be not to give up something very important I gave up in college and to discuss the matter more thoroughly with others to make a more informed decision. I wouldn't have been so selfish. The thing that would surprise most people at my high school reunion is my self confidence and my sense of self.
