Life After graduating from high school in 1989 I attended Hilbert College in Hamburg NY. My major was in Accounting. While I was attending college I worked in Saint Joseph Hospital in the X-Ray Department. I worked there for 2 years and then I applied for a position working for a brokerage house in the city of Buffalo. I gained a lot of experience about the stock market working for that firm. The name of the company was Harold C Brown & Co. I worked for them from 1992 until September 1994. In September 1994 I moved from Buffalo NY to San Diego California. Once I was finally settled into San Diego I vowed never to move back to NY. I missed my friends, my boyfriend and my family terribly but I was on my own, 3,000 miles away and determined to make my life on the west coast. I made friends quickly, bought a car and started applying for jobs. I found a job in December 1994 working for a money manager in San Diego called Brandes Investment Partners. This firm managed money for large companies. They are not a brokerage firm, they are the third party involved in trading transactions. The brokers (like A G Edwards, Smith Barney, Charles Schwab, etc.) hold the clients money and we invest it. I have been working for this company for 11 years and like it very much.
