Jennifer's Story
Life
Hmm...life in general. Well, I'm married without children. Just cats, and soon a Chihuahua puppy. I guess the puppy will be taking up the majority of my time in the time to come. She's almost 2 months now, so I won't be getting her for about another month.
Other than that I'm going in for my 3rd shoulder surgery in April. I had the wonderful misfortune to have been driving the day before my 30th birthday (BD:5/25). I got hit by some 92 year old bat in a Volvo station wagon who hung a left from behind another car (who was waiting for me). Apparently the huge green Land Rover I had was invisible. So, I had one surgery in 11/02 then the second in 8/04. Then I had even more fun seeing as she had AAA and they are bigger dicks than the shark lawyers on tv say. I on the other hand was stupid and didn't hire a shark, so I got nothing, well $8k (which I didn't get, as the jury verdict was lower than the arbitration). They stalled and stalled and stalled, and were ever so kind as to let me have a trial the week of Christmas. So, the jury screwed me. Apparently the word of two orthopedic surgeons and my General Practitioner weren't enough to prove that the tendons in my shoulder (one torn completely off and the other was torn most of the way...really fun surgery, the take the deltoid off, drill a hole in the bone, then sew the tendon back on, and reattach the deltoid). These morons actually believed these were the same was my trapezius muscle (the one past the shoulder blade, running to the spine & neck) must have been the same injury. Grrr....no I'm not bitter. :) Just on my mind as I get to have a 3rd surgery. The second was to remove a bone spur in my shoulder, which retore the front tendon. This one is the mystery surgery, there is definitely something wrong, but the MRI (even w/dye) & X-rays (from the looks, there is something missing off my collarbone now..I'm hoping that is just some weird mistake, as I have no idea how that could happen.) I have to go see the surgeon to review the CAT Scan (CT Scan) sometime soon. I am so special I get two orthopedic surgeons to perform the surgery, at least that's what the scheduling person said....of course in surgery, that could be scary.
School
I had a lot of fun in high school and there isn't much I'd change. I don't think this is a great place to list all the crazy stuff I've done, but of course it's always a nice feeling that even in 2007, people s...Expand for more
till remember the parties I threw.
I probably would have tried a bit harder in math, as that is what is holding me back now. Thankfully I went through private schools from 4-8th grades, so my English level was at college level, so hardly did any homework and could still get B's.
College
As for college, I hope to finish one of these days. I've passed all the preliminary stuff to get in U.C. Davis (which I could get my first choice major, Anthropology/Archaelolgy) or U.C. Berkeley (2nd choice, Classical Civilizations). So, I just need to do math, and with my gpa, age and disability status I can actually go to Berkeley. Davis is a breeze to get into.
I will need to recover from shoulder surgeries first though, as I won't be able to drive to class that far. Put it this way I've driven to San Francisco once or twice, and Napa/St. Helena once or twice, and other than short trips in the area, that's the fartherst I've driven since 2002. Which PISSES me off, as I have a cute little BMW Z3 convertible, which is a stick shift.
Workplace
I've done some cool things in the past. In the early 90s I did sports photography and got to meet a lot of really cool people, and travel. It's kind of fun when you're there with someone important, the celebs flock to you.
I worked at the Renaissance Faire from 93-98 and one Dicken's Faire at one of the Piers in SF. Met a lot of cool people there and some celebs like Weird Al, who posed for pictures with us. He was cool. Then there was a science fiction tv actress, whom I won't name, who was so warped that she scared off some people I wouldn't touch...she was like a stalker celebrity. :P)
Currently I am working on learning how to do HTLM better, as I have a job lined up. I'll get to work from home, which is awesome with all the meds I have to take, and the amounts of time I can spend on a computer. I have all the materials to do the work, updating and fixing links, etc. which the owner says she has enough material for at least 6 years. Not complicated HTML, and she knows I can catch on quick, as I did a bit of volunteer transcribing for her with just basic commands. The good thing is that I will still be able to work on it while recovering from surgery, as there is a lot of different things to do. She has a huge website as it is, and is expanding greatly. And the best thing is, it's a cool company, incense, candles, herbs...all the things I like anyway.
