Jennifer's Story
Life: I hold a doctorate of education (EdD) degree in counseling psychology and a license in marriage and family therapy. More than half of my adult life has been devoted to helping others.
I have worked for myriad agencies across the nation, serving in various administrative, managerial, clinical, consultative, and educational capacities with individuals of all ages with unique needs. One of my most notable achievements was serving with the Washington, D.C. Department of Mental (Behavioral) Health; Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department; and Washington D.C. Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Together, we trained the Washington, D.C. police officers to effectively respond to citizens in mental health crises. This training program was groundbreaking for the District, and is based on the Memphis Model of Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)--a highly respected, impactful, and valued program across the nation. We also trained the police recruits on basic mental health. This was a tremendous opportunity that I hold close to my heart.
Upon high school graduation, I had an exceptionally exciting naval career. I actively served from 1988-2000, and traveled all over the world to places including Hawaii, mainland Japan, Okinawa, Ho...Expand for more
ng Kong, Korea, and Australia. I served an operational tour with the Marines, which was an unforgettable experience. What an honor and privilege to work side-by-side with our country's elite forces.
In 1992, I married my true "prince." I provide consistent support to him--my amazing husband--who is an Eagle Scout, Hawaii IRONMAN World Championship Triathlon finisher, and now retired active duty military man. He is the absolute, most beautiful, amazing, wonderfully kind, bright, and loving soul I have ever known (pretty darn tall, too). What a blessing he is to all who know him.
For the ups, downs, and everything in between, I credit God. I believe we are where we are, when we are supposed to be there. Everything in life is an opportunity for growth. Welcome those people and situations in your life where you are challenged. This is where God does His work on us. This is where we learn, grow, develop, and become the best we are intended to be. Without challenges there is no growth. There are no mistakes. It's a perfect world. "Problems" are an illusion that our minds (egos) create. Lean on God, trust in Him, stay connected to Him, and the world is yours.
I hope each and every one of you has achieved your dreams, are well, and are happy. 🩷💜❤️
