Life
Well, I am not the type of person to stay in one place for long. After high school I spent the next four years living in Illinois attending Northwestern University. That was cool, but I think I'm going to encourage any future kids I have to take a year or two off between high school and college and live a little. Tour the world.
After college I spent a year subbing at Mayfair (exciting, exciting) and interning in Hollywood. Then I got a job working for a movie producer (I was a pretty pathetic assistant)
This was when the internet was skyrocketing, so I joined an internet/hollywood based company called rockcity.com. We did original shows on the internet and thought we were going to be rich, rich rich. Ha, Ha, Ha.
That was a lot of fun... while it lasted. Of course, we crashed and burned in 2001. At the same time I realized I wanted to work in politics because I have a bit of a masochistic streak. Since there were no major jobs opening up in an off-election year, I decided to live abroad for a year just because I could.
I moved to Korea in the summer of 2001 and was there for a year, teaching SAT Prep and ESL. Easiest job of my life until the summer of 2002 when I decided I wanted to make some real money and taught 10 hours a day, six days a ...Expand for more
week for three months.
After that I worked on a political campaign in Orange County. Fairly boring, a local school bond measure, but we won!
Right now I'm in my final two weeks working on a Supervisor's race in Monterey County. This is truly the best job of my life. I haven't had a day off since January 1st, but it's incredible and I totally love it.
I'm currently planning my vacation for March - St. Thomas is looking mighty fine to me right now.
As far as my personal life is concerned, outside of work I do date when I can fit the guys into my schedule. I seem to date guys that I consider too old, but hey, at least they take me to nice restaurants! <G>
I'd love to get married... some day. I do want kids and all, and a white picket fence, a nice dog, a vegetable garden...(I'm beginning to gag here so I'll stop)
What I absolutely don't want is suburbia. I want to live abroad with my family, I want my kids to develop an appreciation of the world around them. I really like Monterey County but it's way too expensive. While I enjoyed Mayfair and the neighbors that I grew up with, I feel a bit allergic to living the same way.
I love traveling and seeing the world and am just not ready or willing to settle into one place. Maybe someday.
