Jennifer's Story
I married Butch Hall in 1963 and we had one son, John.We were working hippies: embraced the culture and philosophy but didn't opt out. We divorced in 1971 and I began to experience the life of a single Mom. As all single Moms know, it's a tough existence but a rewarding one.
I started working for the State of California (State Board of Equalization) in 1971, moved around quite alot in order to promote and and retired from my dream job in 2002. During that time, I married again in 1985 which was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I re-married in 1992 to a wonderful man, who died in 1999 from MS.
Life has been very good to me. My family is/was one of the great treasures of my life. Sadly, both my Mom and Dad have passed on but I still feel them with me. I have had 3 best friends for over 50 years and a small group of very good friends. We've had good times, bad times and basically been there for each other.
I've lived on the North Shore of Maui since 2002. My son and daughter-in-law live 2 miles down the road.My son, John, is an artist (oil painter) - check out his stuff if you're interested: Google John Hall Maui artist. Both my son and daughter-in-law began a no-kill dog adoption foundation, Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation, or H.A.R.F. The foundation is 3 years old and they've placed...Expand for more
around 1400 dogs in forever homes. To say I'm proud of them is putting it mildly.
The North Shore of Maui is my Paradise Found. I live on a 30+ acre farm, on the edge of the rain forest. Even after twelve years here, I still have moments where it amazes me that I am living here - it was my dream for many years and sometimes it shocks the hell out of you when dreams come true! I have a small, beautiful cottage and a huge yard, where I garden every day (and we're not talking Martha Stewart gardening: I dig ditches, move rocks, etc.) . I also started growing orchids which will be a life-time learning process.
After over 30 years of not being able to have a dog (traveling for work, etc.,) I adopted my dog,, Nia,from H.A.R.F. It was truly love at first site. She and my cat, Joey, are my side-kicks. All of you who love animals need no further explanation.
My son and I do alot together - he taught me how to do bonsai trees and I'm still teaching him about life - a pretty good exchange, I think. We mainly just hang out and enjoy each other's company. And sometimes, we load the dogs in his truck and spend the day at the beach.
I sure am grateful for all I have and have had. While I don't check this site all the time, if you're planning a trip to Maui, leave me a message and maybe we can get together.
