Jennifer's Story
Life
I earned two degrees at NMSU (B.A.Interpersonal Communications and B.S. Biology), and then moved to California in 1999. I work for a large biotech company, and teach African drumming in the Ventura and Santa Barbara areas. I also lead a performance ensemble, called the One World Drummers. (Web: oneworlddrummers . com without the spaces). I spend what little free time I have soaking up the California sun, ocean kayaking, rollerblading, and generally enjoying life.
Kids? None in the conventional sense, but I do have an amazing god-daughter and two wonderfully furry children of the four-legged variety who all mean the world to me. Husband? Nope, been a little too busy!
Workplace
I spent several years working in the medical transplant field. I was a transplant coordinator, and a member of the procurement (harvesting) teams. To be blunt, I removed donated tissues like corneas, skin...Expand for more
, bone, heart valves, etc. from cadavers, and then made them available for people who needed transplants. I was also responsible for all the PR, education and local management of the tissue bank. It was a little dark--spent a lot of time in morgues, hospitals and funeral homes, but I helped a lot of people and that is very rewarding. In 2002 I accepted a PR/Education position with the County of Santa Barbara, California. I worked in the heart of this incredible city, nicknamed "the American Riviera". I coordinated/hostedd events, compile brochures/educational materials, designed websites, and taught people (youth at risk, victims of domestic violence,support group members, and the community at large) about the services my department provides. I left all that behind, however, and now devote my time to teaching and performing African Drumming in the Central Coast of California. Life is good!
