Jennifer's Story

Life As far as my personal life goes, I have been happily married since 1999. My husband teaches math at AHS--I dragged him over to this side of the state. No kids, just one BEAUTIFUL chow/retriever mutt named Norton who brings much joy and silliness to our lives. Our plan is to keep raising other people's children (the life of a teacher) and to continue traveling the world. Our favorite trips so far have been to Paris, London, and the little town of Chawton where we went to Jane Austen's cottage and saw the table on which she wrote Pride and Prejudice [SIGH]. College I earned my BA with honors in English Literature from the University of Michigan in 1995, my secondary teaching certification in Language Arts and History from Eastern Michigan University in 1999, and my MA in English with a Teaching Emphasis from Western Michigan University i...Expand for more
n 2003. While I was at U of M, I was a second soprano in the Women's Glee Club. I spent a lot of time hanging out with the Women's and Men's Glee Clubs. In fact, I met my husband on a joint GC hayride. We later married in the Michigan Union. In case you can't guess, I bleed maize and blue! Workplace I currently teach Children's Literature, American Humanities, British Literature, Photojournalism, and Yearbook at good ol' AHS. I'm also the assistant varsity girls' tennis coach. We took second at state in the fall of 2006 and spring of 2008!! Professionally, I am involved in the Third Coast Writing Project at WMU, the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and the Rural Sites Network of the National Writing Project. I also published my first two national articles in 2005--one in Classroom Notes Plus and one in English Journal.
