Jennifer's Story
Hey all,
Here's a few little items about me that you might like to know. After graduation and during the summer before I was SUPPOSED to head to FSU, I got a wild hair and went visiting military recruiters. My parents were out of town for three weeks and I had A LOT of time on my hands. I ended up enlisting in the Navy and left the following January for boot camp in Orlando and "A" school (initial job training) in Ft Devens, MA. HAD a total blast in the military.
I spent 17 years in the service and traveled to Scotland, Spain, the Middle East and deployed on several ships. My favorite assignment was as a military analysis instructor which I absolutely loved. Many of you with military backgrounds are probably puzzled at the 17 years and not 20 or more... but suffice it to say I had major complications delivering my youngest daughter and just couldn't quite make it back in physical fitness standards. Now, I'm back home in Tampa and still affiliated with the military albeit as a Department of Defense contractor. I work for US Special Operations Command and enjoy my job. I am happy to be back home near my extended family and we have a lovely home and two beautiful girls.
My children and husband are my life. Del and I have been married since 1998. Del is a retired Air Force Master Sergeant and working for ITT (also at SOCOM) although I really think he'd prefer to pursue drumming professionally. He's an awesome drummer!! We have two daughters, Sarah and Lindsey. The baby has a touch of cerebral palsy from her complicated delivery, but all in all we are totally blessed. Her situation (and mine for that matter) could have turned out very tragic very quickly (she was unexpectedly born 2 months early).
Anyway, we are busy, busy, busy as are most parents with young kids but would love to hear from those of you who knew me at Jefferson or in the military!
