Jere's Story

I'm sitting here, nice and warm, in beautiful Humboldt County, with the rain pounding down and I thought it was a good time to update my profile. Here it goes, but don't expect any earth shaking events that one might be inclined to write down . Married, my wife and I just celebrated our 40th anniversary, no children only two dogs. My wife and I lived in Napa Valley for 34 years while I worked in Benicia and my wife worked as a dental hygienist in Napa. Well, here is what happen in my life for the last 40 plus years since graduating Willow Glen; Graduated Willow Glen in 1962, then worked for a while for Thrifty Drug, does anyone remember Thrifty? September of 1965 I received a request from the citizens of America to serve in the military, thanks citizens, and I was drafted into the Army, spending two years at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Upon release from the Army I worked for the county of Santa Clara, doing time at Juvenile Hall. Then September of 1968 found me entering Humboldt State University. Graduating in 1971 with a degree in Industrial Arts I continued my stay at HSU to obtain both a elementary and secondary teaching credential. For the next thirty years I worked in the community of Benicia, at Benicia Middle School. There was a time, while at the middle school, that I went a little insane. I decided to go into administration. This decision sent me back to Cal State Hayward, which is now CSU,East Bay, to obtain an Administrative Credential along with my masters. After spending three years as an assistant principal at Benicia Middle School, and the return of my sanity, I went back to the classroom and then a short time later the opportunity arose to fill in as Counselor, which led me back to school to pick up a PPS c...Expand for more
redential. Counseling was a nice fit and I spent the last fourteen years, of my education career, as counselor. After retiring I worked for a couple years at Copia, center for Wine Food and the Arts in Napa. Unfortunately Copia is now closed. My wife and I begin to concider a move from Napa and after many visits to Humboldt County we made the move in 2004. Since the move I have kept myself busy with my work for the local police volunteer group and Redwood Relics Volleyball group as well as the over 60's slow pitch softball league, everyone will be happy to know there have been no misuse of steroids, however there has been a look into the misuse of Metamucil. We have an acre of land, which keeps us very busy and when the weather gets to cold and rainy we enjoy a visit to Hawaii. Well, as I said before, nothing earth shaking. It would have been wonderful to inform everyone that I had found a cure for hemorrhoids, lose of hair, expanding waist line etc. But no. I do want to wish every one who views this profile a very happy, healthy and joy filled life. Later, Jere Sept. 2009 Here it is the middle of September 2009 and my wife and I are on the move again. We just sold our beautiful Humboldt County home and are now headed to Hawaii full time. After visiting many times in the last ten years we decided it was time to make the move. We have a home on three quarts of an acre and a view of the ocean. The home is located on the Kona side of the big island. The move should be complete sometime in mid December. Our dogs are holding up the process. For those of you who do not know Hawaii makes one jump through many hoops just to bring a dog into the state. And we have two dogs. Well, that's all for the moment.
