Jeremy's Story

Life I remember you I swear, where you are...not so much haha. I've finished my U-Grad in History and World Literature at UCLA and am taking a short break from academe at the moment. Currently I am working EMS serving the communities of Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena, Redondo Beach, PVE, Lennox, Athens, Marina Del Rey, Culver City, Fox and Baldwin Hills and on occaision LA City. In general if it happens in the South Bay or South Central Los Angeles (even the residents won't call it South LA, proving again that "it's not politically correct, it's just correct" thank you Ralphie May) I'll be there or know the crews on scene.I'm pretty excited about this job, everyday is a new challenge and gives me new material for my writing. Given that Central LA County is the number one Emergency Services call volume area in the state...and the Western U.S. it's a good feeling to know I can hack it and measure up to the many city and county firefighters in the area. On the side I have started teaching emergency medical responder skills to college students who want to become EMTs, and am looking into a position with Urban Search and Rescue. If I find a program that's open and throwing cash at me I plan to get my MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the goal of working Travel, Trauma Care, or Flight Operations. I've worked trauma from the ground up literally, and worked pediatrics with a new group of 600 special needs children a week at OCDE Outdoor Science School (I've seen teacher children!!! gasp ). In the Summer I'm plann...Expand for more
ing to visit Moorea in French Polynesia (slightly WNW of Tahiti in the Society Islands) as a translator for a group of friends, in fact I may stay over, one of my patients' families invited me to visit them at their home in Fiji. I'm learning Spanish (So-Cal), Japanese(most prevalent in my coverage area), and some Korean on and for my job, and of course Madames Miller-Gourbin and McClung will be happy to note that I have actually used the French language here in sunny CA, following digs from our Greek medic that everyone assumes knows Spanish lol. So far I've talked to a Lebanese family about their mother's heart valve replacement, to a Vietnamese family regarding CHF, and again with a 7 year old who we placed in C-Spine after a fall. I still enjoy cooking a broad range of cuisine, which of course my co-workers at the station love...almost as much as they love not cooking themselves haha. I'm also branching out my skill set in non-linear video editing and adding it to my hobby in nature/urban photography I've shot a few local group PSA spots in front of and behind the camera, shot an album which was just released this year and am in the process of building custom hardware for a more adventurous set of projects. That's about all the news that's fit to print, all this of course while listening to Miles Davis and reminiscing about Bistro 522. Ciao! A Bientot! Kwa Heri Rafiki, and Swing Heil to all o' Uncle Fares' Lindy Hoppers Workplace Um...it's all comedy...really...not only could I write a book...I am. ^_^
