Jeremy's Story
Life
38-years old now, married with one son and having the time of my life! I moved back to Florida for the second (and final) time in 2000, settled on South Beach for a few years, and quickly realized that I never wanted to leave. I've managed to live in both the northern and southern US as a result of my career in radio and television, and I've been fortunate enough to cover some of the most noteworthy and historic events of our time. I've also been blessed with the ability to travel to many parts of the world, having seen much of Asia, Australia and even parts of the Carribean too. I do miss life in Elburn and Maple Park from time to time, but just haven't had the chance to visit in several years.
I'd love to hear from anyone whom I might have known in the past, and I welcome you to drop in and say hi. Best wishes to you all.
College
College was very good to me. I went in not sure exactly where I was headed, but graduated with honors, and with a career that's taken me around the world.
I began as a Mass Communications major, and graduated with a degree in Broadcasting. I also began working at the student radio station as a Freshman, and was the morning anchor for the National Public Radio affiliate station by the time I was a sophomore. I...Expand for more
anchored the early morning news program for my remaining 2 1/2 years, and was also the Associate Producer for a music program that was nationally syndicated by National Public Radio, and won several awards.
My opportunity with NPR allowed me to work year-round and remain in school in the summers as well. As a result, I received my BA in 3 years, and after working at various radio stations around the Chicago area for 2 years, I returned to graduate school. That allowed me to enter into the television industry afterwards, and the rest is history!
Workplace
I'm currently a Coordinating Producer for the Home Shopping Network in St. Petersburg, Florida. Prior to that I was an Executive Producer for WINK-TV in Ft. Myers, and the Assistant News Director/Executive Producer for WCJB-TV in Gainesville, Fl. I previously worked for the FOX Network in both Cleveland, Oh and in Orlando and Miami. I was also involved with ClearChannel Radio while in Orlando.
In the course of my career, I've been very fortunate to have been in on the ground floor when it comes to the planning and coverage of many major news events of the past 15 years. This is a HIGHLY rewarding career, but it's also an extremely fast-paced one. Needless to say, it's not for the faint of heart!
