Jeremy's Story

Life After graduating William Paterson college with a BA in communications I spent the next 4 years on the road traveling the country and exploring. In '97 I moved to northern Vermont where I worked for an environmental non-profit organization. I also worked on an organic farm for a little while. By word of mouth I found myself going to work for a new manufacturing company called MSI. I was the 7th employee back then. 9 1/2 years later I am the director of operations and have helped grow our small company into a thriving business of 85 employees. It is a great feeling to be a part of an organization that has allowed me to develop and influence the direction of both the company and my career. 7 years ago I purchased a house on 20 acres. I live there with my three dogs. When I am not working on growing MSI I enjoy playing golf, kyaking, and working on my land. Every 4th of July I make my annual trip back home to Bertrand Island on Lake Hopatcong, where my folks still reside, for a week of lake fun and fireworks and of course a sky scrapper from Cliff's Dairy Bar. ere you are from to appreciate where you are now. Update: After 11 years of living in Vermont I have returned to NJ. Why? The winters were too damn long. They start in August and go until May! Seriously though...last winter kicked my butt with a capitol K. 120 inches of snow...every day 6-8 inches of snow would fall. Also I found that I needed to be closer to family and friends. Funny as we get older the pull to reconnect with friends and family grows stronger...at least for me it did. I am living in Hackettstown with my beautiful girlfriend and her sons. I like not having to drive a half hour just to get groceries. I have been asked a lot since moving back to NJ isn't the cost of living so much less in Vermont? Honestly it's not. Groceries are similar in price. Utilities are just as expensive if not more. Gas prices are considerably more up there. From what I am seeing in the job market wages are not much different too. The way I look at it when the economy is sucking as bad as it is right now it doesn't matter where you are so I say you might as well be surrounded by old friends and family.
