Jeri's Story
Workplace
I worked a bunch of part-time jobs from graduation until 1988.
Then, with my husband's support, I enrolled in nursing school at Pines Vo-Tech. I had to drop out of school in the middle of the course to go to Mexico. I did finish up with the next class. I went to work at JRMC. I worked there for a year.
Then I moved to Houston to work for the nursing agencies.
In 1992, I inherited a house in Atmore, Al. We moved there and I worked for nursing agencies. I got to travel to different states, working in different facilities...Expand for more
. I even worked for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
In 2001, we moved to Mexico to work with Missions. Then my grandmother got sick and we went to Emory TX to take care of her.
In 2004 we moved back to Alabama. I went back to work at the nursing home that I had worked at prior to moving to Mexico.
Working at the indian reservation was awesome! Have you ever heard the saying, "Lord willing and the CREEK don't rise"? Well, it isn't water they are talking about. It is the CREEK indians!
