Jerri's Story
After finishing my degree in elementary education I got married and had two girls 16 months apart. I spent most of my time raising them. About 4 years ago I started my Masters degree in Adult education so that I could go back to work when they started college. Just as I was finishing my last two classes I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. Because of complications from the radiation and the tumor I have been unable to finish that degree or been able to return back to work yet. However, I have a lot to be thankful for. I have fantastic doctors. I've been mostly happily married for 22 years. My daughters have both graduated from high school. nn State. Rebekah is majoring in Psychology, Jessica having only turned 19 isn't sure what she's interested in. I have a foster son who is in Iraq with his National Reserve unit. Needless to say we live in Central PA. It is very green here and I miss the dry warmth of the Southwest. My cousin Mich is convinced I don't really have a tumor just a big piece of mold from living with all of this moisture. lol
2010 I've been living in Phoenix since January because we believed that the heat and dryness might be helpful for my health. So far, our hypothesis has proved out. I just do not do well in PA, so now Michael and I have to figure out what to do. The kids get a $75% discount on tuition because Michael works for PSU, and they still have a couple of years. Anyway, we have a lot of figuring out to do.
