Jerris's Story

When we had our 30 year class reunion, they sent out a questionnaire. One of the questions asked what we expected to be doing in ten years. Here it is over ten years later, and I never dreamed that my life would be like it is. Here is a little about the road I've traveled on up until now. After high school, I attended a junior college in Arkansas for a year and a half. I left there and went to St. Louis and graduated from a one year fashion career college. I moved back to my home town and got a job. In 1973 I married Kenneth Raines. We had three beautiful children and were married over 28 years. Ken retired from the Air Force. We lived in Tahlequah, Oklahoma 1979-1982. This is when I completed my bachelor's degree in business. We moved back to Kennett in 1982 and our 3rd child was born at Blytheville AFB. I did some substitute teaching, then in 1990 I started an embroidery business. Our son graduated high school from Kennett in 1992. He started college and we moved back to Oklahoma for a short time. We then moved to Arkansas. After our youngest daughter graduated high school in 2001, we moved ...Expand for more
to our farm in MO. My embroidery business went with us everytime we moved. In Dec. 2001 I lost my husband, and I moved back to Arkansas. In 2007, I had another terrible loss. My beautiful 30 year old daughter was murdered. She was a wonderful mother of three and had a great career as a therapist at a mental health inpatient unit. She received her Bachelor's from ASU and her Master's in Social work from University of Missouri. It's been a great loss. I am raising her youngest son who is now 5. He's a hand full, but sometimes I don't know how I would survive without him. I have a 16 yr. old grandaughter who lives with me also. I have a total of 8 grandchildren. In 2008, I moved my embroidery business to Kennett, and sell purses, baby items etc.(See us at semomarketplace.com). My youngest daughter works with me, and we keep her 23 month old daughter here with us in the store. We have lots of fun seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The tragedies of life can almost take us down, but the blessings lift us up. I thank God for the strength he gives me to make it through each day. God bless! Jerris

Lots of Veterans in this picture. The only name I know on here is George Nelson, my dad. If you look up close, I printed “dad” on his picture. He was in the marines, but was on a Naval ship so I guess most of his time was s
Today this little grand baby of mine turns 10 years old. Look how she was already cutting those eyes around at her momma at less than an hour into this world. Believe me, she still knows how to use those eyes. Happy Birthda

Meet Mr. Trump. This is one of Laken’s pheasants and that’s what she named him. Do you think the name is fitting?
We love Trump.
Mom is supposed to go home on the 30th. She still has some pain but she is able to walk some with the walker. This was Christmas Eve and she told me to put it on Facebook. Lol. We are so blessed.
Cousins....this must have been Christmas morning with our baby dolls.
Lunch today at the Parachute Inn, Walnut Ridge, Arkansas
This is from a page From a book Krystal made about family when she was in school. It's a pretty good description of her daddy. We miss his wisdom, his advice, his hugs and everything about him.
Carson and I spent the night with Mom last night. I tried to sneak a picture of her cooking breakfast for us this morning but never managed it. I told her not to fix breakfast, but she says "I always fix breakfast anyway ",
Way back when they were "only friends" yeah right....Married ten years today. Happy Anniversary to my beautiful daughter and handsome son-in-law. Love you
June 6th, the date that is so dreaded, but must come and go every year. I try so hard not to go back to that day, but to think about the beautiful daughter and amazing mom that she was. Oh how she loved all her family. It'
Having coffee on the Balcony. It's a beautiful day for Silver Dollar City. It's not the vacation my older granddaughter dreamed of, but we will do LA or meet Dylan Sprayberry another time. Besides she got to go to the beach
