Jerry's Story
Hi all!
I guess the old saying is true! "The more things change the more they stay the same". For those of you who don't remember, I was a car freak (Gear Head) in school. Well I still am.
I have been married to my wife Jackie for thirty two years this November 2011. We live in Orange, CA. We have two sons and daughter. Patrick 23, Michael 27 and Denise 40, she is my daughter from my first marriage.
I was in the Automobile business here in Southern CA. for over 40 years. From 1960, my freshman year in high school, until 1974 I was involved in Auto Racing. I sold my last race car in 1974 and for the next twenty years I never went back to the race track again. Then one day out of the blue, my son's said they wanted to get involved in auto racing. So I guess it's true "The nut doesn't fall far from the tree"
Now my two sons, and my daughter, are all three involved with cars in one way or another. My daughter is a supervisor for Toyota in their parts division. She is married and has a son. She and her family live about an hours drive from us. Our oldest son, Michael has taken over our home business. He runs "Britain Racing" where he builds Cars, motorcycles and still works on our younger sons race cars. Our younger son Patrick no longer races full time, but he drives as often as he can. He works in the automotive marketing department for H.J.C. Motorsports. They manufacture helmets for motorcycles and cars. blood. We were totally involved in auto racing, restoring old cars and building Hot Rods until 2005. We had to sell our race team and got out of racing in 2005 because of some medical issues I have. They had been racing since they were eight years old, so it was a tough decision. Patrick, our younger son, turned 23 in January 2011 and is the race Driver. Michael turned 27, also, in January 2011 and was the Crew Chief and mechanic. We have always built all of our own race cars and we have done quite well over the years. Jackie and I, along with our two dogs and our sons, have many fond memories of driving all over the Southwestern U.S. taking the race team to the various tracks. The boys hope to some day soon be able to secure sufficient sponsorship to get back into full time racing.
Jackie has been very involved with charity work and the Orange County Republican Women for the last fifteen years. So needless to say when the family wasn't racing she was very busy with her charities and her political obligations. My father had a heart attack in 2001 and has lived with us since then. I can say one thing for sure, she kept very busy! I don't know how she did everything she did and still make time to go to the races, feed the crew members and keep everything organized.
We are always talking about just getting a motor home, the dogs and taking off on our own for a few weeks, but we never seem to have the time?
I would say "If it all ended tomorrow, I have been very blessed"
