Jerry's Story

Thank you all for remembering me. I remember many of you who have visited. All good memories. I've been asked, " What's my story, " so here goes. Spent some years speaking Russian and doing other things for my country. About to retire from Government service in less than 6 months. Don't need to work for anyone else again. Living the life on 5 acres on a river in Northwest Indiana. I call it River View as we are on a bluff 70 feet over the river. Most of you don't know but I was an explorer scout during high school, ran for president of the entire US Explorer Scouts and did things like crew the Mackinaw race, climb mountains in Colorado and fished and hunted like crazy. Still do. I stopped telling people about my activities as nobody believed me and I thought scouting was considered "uncool". I'm still in scouting, on the scout planning council and set up fishing events and adventure outings for them. When I retire I will be doing alot!!!! of fundraising for these events. I'm past coach of the American National Fishing Team at the international level and am trying to integrate the Scout fishing program into an American National Juniors Fishing Champioships. Based on the Confederation Internationale de la Peche Spo...Expand for more
rtiffe' (the governing body of the Olympics of fishing.) (We had teams in Paris and New York during 9/11 and had great difficulty getting them home during flight restrictions.) I've been on and still on some board of directors of international fishing organizations and have been lucky enough to fish with many of the greats of our time. I've been asked to coach at the international level again many times but my interest is working with kids to find the next world Champion Fisherperson. Past world Champion Mick Thill is the only USA fisherman to win a World championship and a close personal friend and mentor. I write for outdoors magazines and am 7 chapters into my book on Steelhead and Salmon fishing. I was voted best outdoor writer in Europe 2 years in a row but can hardly get published in the US. Money and politics, 2 things I don't care about. The Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame has interviewed me for the oral history of fishing and we've recorded one session and have scheduled four others. This will be come a permanent part of the library. Is there a recurring theme here? Well the outdoors is a hobby for some for others it's a lifestyle. My email is jbrown better bank anglers com. Sorry I could not do a pose with the fish as I was fishing alone. (Sorry Ladies). Nice way to start!!!!! I could only fish one rod as there were so many carp around.
This fish caught on Tuesday is less then half the size of 3 fish repeatedly sited on Saturday. HUGE GOLDEN!!!!! carp with tales 2 feet wide. One dark brown fish was so large I doubt my arms would reach around it's belly.
My attack on LM Carp began with a feeding program on spots I encountered Carp while Trout and Salmon fishiing these last 45 years. Today with a heat index of 107 degrees I headed to the beach. I was rewarded with a nice
