Jerry's Story
Hard to believe that 42 years have come and gone since graduating from Highland in '75. I went on to spend my first two years of college at BC and then transferred to San Diego State University, graduating with a degree in Accounting. Following graduation from SDSU, I went to work with the accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells in San Diego in 1980 and then on to other companies in the San Diego area in the late 80s and 90s, in roles such as the company Controller, VP Finance, Treasurer, etc. I was a partial owner of a small pharmaceutical company that we sold in 2001, after which I decided to take some time off to relax for a month before going back to work. These days, I enjoy travelling with friends, RV camping and off-road recreation in the deserts of CA and AZ, NASCAR racing (yeah, yeah, the Bakersfield red-neck stayed with me) and playing (crappy) golf. I've been living in the San Diego area since my days at San Diego State and for the past 28 years, I've enjoyed living in Poway, a community north east of San Diego. I still have a strong tie to Bakersfield and frequently drive up there as I am blessed to have my mom still living in the same house that I grew up in during the 60s and the 70s.
All in all, I been blessed and lucky to have enjoyed a good ride for my 65 years.....and the 4 years at Highland were definitely a fun part of that run. I truly hope that all of you have have enjoyed the same good times through out your lives.
