Jerry's Story

Life I just retired for the Army after 20 years, moved back to Columbus, and married my high school sweet heart, Gail Sutton. We hadn't seen or talked to each other for over 32 years. We have never been happier. Military I joined the Army in January 1982 at the age of 31. I had basic and Airborne training at Fort Benning Ga. My first duty station...Expand for more
was Berlin Germany. From there I went to the 197th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning. I became a Drill Sergeant at B Co 1st BN 19th Infantry Regt. I then became a Drill Sergeant instructor. From there I went to Panama and spent 6 1/2 years. We closed Panama and the unit moved to Puerto Rico where I spent my last 3 years. I retired on 31 January 2002.
