Jerry's Story
Halito Hitak Ikhanas, Greetings Friends,
Chim achukma, Riverview alumni?
It is funny how these reunion web sites like Classmates, can really make one feel so insignificant. What I mean is this. You cruise through your high school years thinking that because of your academic, athletics, or the body most lusted after, you will be immortalized in the Halls of Riverviewdom, but, only to find out, in a remarkably short period of time, that you were just a drop in the ocean of high school life.
First off, I would like to apologize to the people I hurt, lied to or let down. School and life were not the happiest time for me, lets see, how do they say this, I had issues, but yet, it had its moments.
After graduation, I tried hard at flunking out of Manatee Junior. How do you flunk out of a JC? Guess what? I succeeded!! In 1963, I joined the Navy. I spent four years, four months, and three days, as a Hospital Corpsman (Search and Rescue) and the last year, I was attached to the Fleet Marine Force, 1st Marine Division (1963-1967).
After exiting the Navy, I bummed around the country with some of the Ringling Art School people and ended up in California during the late sixties, FAR FREAKING OUT!
I was a biker, owned a 52 FLH Panhead, which I chopped and then settled down, got married, I have two children, a daughter, who is a patrol deputy sheriff and a son, who is studying social science and tattoo artistry.
I challenged the nurses exam and worked as a nurse at Santa Monica Hospital Emergency Room for about five years. We then moved to Idaho, where I was a resident deputy sheriff, bounty hunter, bail bondsman, and a Correctional Officer. I had a saw accident a...Expand for more
nd partially amputated my left hand, which was reattached. After healing, we moved to Oregon.
I worked for the Oregon DOC as a block sergeant and Security Threat Group Investigator (NEWS FLASH-I am retired due to a terminal lung disease-Pulmonary Fibrosis). I had been there for over fifteen and half years. So now that I'm now retired, I could not be happier. I now have a 1976 HD Shovelhead and a new 2010 HD Road King Classic, as pictured above. In June we went to the Four Corners area of Colorado and back, about 2400 miles.
Now those of you, who like to investigate things,I'm going to give you a Choctaw language lesson. Most of you probably have a dog. Dog in Choctaw is "OFI." A male or warrior is called "NAKNI." I can't believe I'm wasting my space or characters giving language lessons. Well, on to the rest of my story.
I was adopted at five years old and found my family in 1999. I missed my mother as she died in 1994. I am Choctaw, Cherokee, a smidgen of Chickasaw, Irish. My birth name is Frank Webb Almond Jr, look for it.
I enjoy writing, having written two training manuals:
1. Crime scene and Evidence Preservation (In a Correctional Setting)
2. Interview and Interrogation Techniques (In a Correctional Setting)
and I am working on two books at the present. If you want to know more about me, look for the book ÂDucatsÂ, I will let you know when it is published. Warning! It will be risqué and very truthful.
I am a radical NDN advocate, tree hugger, and political liberal who believes we need to clean house and rid our government of all the pigs who are fattening themselves and their cronies at OUR troughs.
Best wishes to you all.
